The US Forest Service is doing some unique new maps for some of their areas that are excellent for planning and hiking. The standard USFS map is at a scale of 1:126,720 (one mile=½ inch). These new maps are at a scale of 1:63,360 (one mile=½ inch), include topography and are on waterproof paper. You won't need the USGS 7.5" maps for these areas. But if do, the index for the USGS is on the Forest Service Map. $14.00
